Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County

International / United Nations

What is the International/United Nations Committee?

The Zonta International UN Committee supports international efforts that improve the status of women and children. We identify local speakers who can share information on projects that impact the status of women worldwide, monitor the international efforts of Zonta International and identify ways in which our club can support these efforts. The International Committee helps to promote awareness of world-wide women’s health, educational and economic efforts through projects like the Boulder UN Day and Your English School. Our committee helps to educate our membership and our Boulder community on Zonta’s international projects.

2007-2008 Objectives

  1. Work with the local United Nations Association to accomplish/sponsor/enrich UN Birthday celebration on October 21st and help it relate to needs/rights of women. We will provide the cake for this year’s celebration.
  2. Coordinate Zonta Foothills Club efforts to support the YES School by involving our club members in one-on-one or small group sessions helping students learn English.
  3. Give presentations at business meetings to educate members on:
    • Countries in which Zonta International has service projects including Sri Lanka and Afghanistan
    • Using maps, other visual aids and flags.
    • YES School partnership
  4. Educate members about Zonta’s International efforts through articles and postings in The Flash.
  5. Explore a possible link with a “Sister Club”, either in the U.S. or abroad.
