Zonta Foothills Advocacy for Positive Change
Each year, the Zonta Foothills Club Advocacy team’s goal is to increase public awareness of Zonta’s important work to create a better world for women and girls. We do this through programs, scholarships, legislative priorities, and education. In addition, we partner on advocacy projects with leaders of our Pantherz Z and Golden Z Clubs at the High School and College levels. We also host a Climate Action Forum, which brings together elected representatives, ZFC’s Climate Justice Scholars, and community climate action groups to develop new ways of working on climate issues together. If any of these sound like something you would like to contribute to, please let us know. We welcome new voices!
This year we experienced a pivotal election for our state and our country – the outcomes are affecting the entire globe and women’s lives right here and now.
Climate equity, gender-based violence and women’s reproductive healthcare rights are being tested. We support critical legislation to continue initiatives in these areas.
Our Z Club members are critical partners in this work. They lead events to increase voter registration among their peers and work with organizations like New Era on voter registration. Our goal of ending gender violence is supported through events like “Take Back the Night” at Front Range College and University of Colorado and by funding the Beth Haynes award at the DA’s office promotes our mutual efforts to end domestic violence and sexual assault.
Zonta is a strong resource to our community and a key partner for elected representatives, community leaders, service organizations, and others who share our mission to make the world a better place for women and girls. If this sounds like you, please join us!
What does advocacy mean to you?
The Zonta Foothills Advocacy Committee will:
Increase public awareness of Zonta’s important work to create a better world for women and girls through programs, scholarships, legislative priorities, and education.
Advocate to influence laws and attitudes with the goal of assisting women to develop their full potential at all levels: local, state, national and international.
Develop and provide resources for members and other like-minded organizations to be effective advocates in our communities. Keystone events like the Beth Haynes Award, Climate Justice Forum and Take Back the Night Series further this mission.
