Katarina Booth Summer Clerkship

In partnership with the Boulder County District Attorney - Domestic Violence Acute Response Team (DVART)

Zonta Foothills Club and Foundation is proud to launch The Katarina Booth Summer Clerkship, a new partnership with the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office - Domestic Violence Acute Response Team (DVART). A champion for survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and violent crime, Karatina was a long-time Boulder Deputy DA who left a lasting legacy on the work of DVART. She explains that advocating “on behalf of crime survivors was the most meaningful and significant role she had as a prosecutor. The ability to help survivors navigate through some of the darkest and most challenging times of their lives and make even a small difference in their healing was incredibly rewarding.” It is with this sense of purpose that the Katarina Booth Summer Clerkship will support future prosecutors.

The Zonta Foothills Foundation will award a $5,000 stipend to support a summer clerkship for a law student working in the DA’s office. Because such clerkships are unpaid, interested law students must cover their own living expenses, making the opportunity impossible for some students. Our sponsored clerkship will encourage and support future prosecutors who intend to specialize in the areas of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and/or child abuse.

To apply for this award, the applicant must:

  • be a rising second or third-year law student at the time of the application

  • have been accepted for a summer clerkship position with the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office (20th Judicial District)

  • submit a 500-word essay (BELOW) explaining their interest in pursuing a career in prosecution, specifically in the areas of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and/or child abuse.

If awarded the Katarina Booth Clerkship, the recipient will:

  • Follow all employment requirements as set forth by the Boulder District Attorney’s Office.

  • Provide the Zonta Foothills Club Treasurer with relevant personal information for direct payment

  • Update Zonta Foothills Club on academic progress and the impact of this award on their legal studies and future career opportunities.

  • Allow Zonta Foothills Club to use their name and picture in our promotional materials and fundraising efforts to promote this award and Zonta’s work.

  • Attend the 2026 Scholarship Award Celebration. Date to be announced.
