Finance Committee
This year’s budgeting process was an inspiring opportunity for us all to look ahead and imagine how our Club and Foundation can continue to grow its impact in our community. Launched at our June strategic visioning session, our board and committee chairs agreed that our focus should be to:
Make Zonta a household name.
Build on the things that we do well, like advocacy, scholarships, and mentorship.
Reach out to identify sponsors and bigger donors.
These three priorities were the impetus behind the productive committee meetings held through June and early July, and the result was an inspiring budget that will give our membership opportunities to truly build a better world for women and girls in the year ahead.
Thank you to our Committees and Committee Chairs who worked hard to develop creative and fiscally sound plans for their teams. Thank you to our Finance Committee members, who worked hard to compile the committee submissions, review our short- and long-term investments, to compile preliminary Foundation and Club budgets. And thank you to each member who attended a budget review meeting. It was truly a team effort. If you have any questions about our financial plans, please let any member of the Finance Committee know, and if you haven’t already cast your vote to approve the 2025-26 budgets, please send your email vote to Nancy by July 31.
Legislative Breakfast an Opportunity to Raise Our Voices
Recently, the Advocacy Committee hosted a breakfast to introduce our Club to our Boulder County legislators and commissioners, local elected officials at both the county and state levels. Joining us were CO State Senators Judy Amabile and Katie Wallace, CO State Legislators Kyle Brown, Junie Joseph, Karen McCormick, and Janice Marchman, and Boulder County Commissioner Ashley Sotlzmann. This event kicked off the Advocacy Committee's year to help our members learn the legislative process and become advocates for the issues our Club is focusing on for the year ahead, which include:
learning about the process of making bills become law,
advocating with elected officials on particular bills,
following several bills through their lifespan during the 2026 legislative session.
We had the opportunity to hear each of our Boulder County legislators discuss the challenges of our upcoming legislative session, specifically as they impact women and girls in our state. Then Lily Beacom and Casey Giron, the Pantherz Z Club 25-26 Co-Presidents, highlighted plans for the upcoming Club year. Casey talked about the Culture of Respect project. She recapped last year’s impact across BVSD and plans to continue the program’s growth during the upcoming academic year. Lily gave an overview of the Club's Voter Registration project with New Era and plans to register students at Boulder High School again this coming year. The Club is also discussing the possibility of initiating legislation to be sponsored by our legislative representatives at their upcoming 2025-26 session.
As you know, our Club focuses on women’s issues, including reproductive health, climate justice, safety, education, and empowerment. In the upcoming year we may specifically address pay equity, domestic violence, child marriage, rape kit funding, reproductive rights protection, and other issues that may arise through the process. We will also continue to partner with the Women’s Collaborative of Boulder County to raise our voices and look forward to our day at the Capitol in the spring of 2026.

No More PayPal!
Check out our new Fundraising page.
You will be happy to know, we are no longer processing donations through PayPal. As non-profit participants in Colorado Gives, we can take advantage of MightyCause. This online software will process our donations through our Colorado Gives account, making it easy and seamless for donors to contribute to our work. The interface is professional and looks great on our website donation page, and best of all, donations are sent to us monthly along with user-friendly reports. (Which will make the process better for our Treasurer.)
Note that we can only process donations to the Zonta Foothills Foundation through this process. Club dues payments will remain linked to PayPal until another option is available.

In support of this strategic direction, we are proud to announce the release of “Women Taking Climate Action”, a video our Club has produced. It highlights the work of local women in public policy who are advocating for climate justice, along with the 2025 recipients of our Zonta Foothills Climate Justice Scholarships who are pursuing graduate degrees at the University of Colorado Boulder. The video features their work, which includes researching green materials for renewable energy and local action to reduce harmful emissions on the CU campus through the University’s Climate Action Plan.
“Women Taking Climate Action” was produced in concert with our first Climate Justice Forum, held on International Women’s Day 2025. It was funded by the Zonta Foothills Foundation with a grant from the Zonta District 12 Action for Environment and Gender Equality (AEGE) Committee.
We hope the climate action of these women will influence other women to pursue professional careers in climate research and policy, and that this short documentary film will inspire other Zonta Clubs to create Climate Justice Scholarships and support educational opportunities for women who will lead in climate action. Here it is!
Club Lake Party
Lake Party is a Great Tradition!
Thanks to those who joined us in June for our annual Z Club Lake Party. Members of all three Z Clubs joined us for some sun, games, food and conversation. We all hung out, and Foothills members got to know our younger Club members.

Advocacy Committee
Our Women Taking Climate Action Video HERE!
This past year our Advocacy Committee incorporated Zonta International’s Zonta Says Now initiative into its strategic plan for the first time. because Climate Action is at the foundation of our mission to create a better world for women and girls. Extreme weather events due to climate change and environmental racism, threaten human rights…including the right to life, food, water, health, education, livelihood, and safety. Empirical evidence shows that climate change and environmental injustice disproportionately affect women and girls, and taking climate action from a gender equality perspective is crucial.
